Marcelli will tackle the Ultra Competitive F2000 Championship for 2008

BARRIE, ON (April 3rd , 2008)- Professional race car driver Kyle Marcelli Continues to be on the fast track to international racing stardom as he gears up for the next challenge of his racing career, the 2008 Pro F2000 Championship Series.  Recently crowned Formula Ford Champion Kyle Marcelli made the decision during the off season to tackle the F2000 Championship Series following conversations with prominent figures and drivers in the world of motorsport. Marcelli decided upon the F2000 Championship Series because it became visible that it was next best step to pursuing his professional racing career. Marcelli will be following in the footsteps of many other successful drivers such as Greg Moore, Paul Tracy, Dan Wheldon and many others as they all went through the Formula Ford / F2000 route as well. “This year we have a big task to tackle. The F2000 championship series is the largest and most competitive series in Jr. Formula car level of racing. That said, Kyle is the type of driver, to live up to and exceed team expectations and prove to be a great competitor and make a hard run for the upcoming season title”. – Brian Graham (Brian Graham Racing Team Owner) With over 60 drivers scheduled to battle it out this season, the opener at Virginia International Raceway April 17th - 20th in Alton, Virginia will be extremely thrilling to watch. This should be the most exciting and grueling season of Marcelli’s promising career thus far. Marcelli has been patiently awaiting the 2008 season to begin, and is looking forward to many podium celebrations and his ultimate goal, the F2000 Championship Title. The ultra competitive 2-liter series is going to field 8 champions from different Jr. Formula car series in 2007. The race cars in the series are single seaters with a mid engine set-up ,powered by a 2000cc Ford Zetech engine putting out approximately 170 hp. There are 4 available chassis manufacturer choices in the series: Van Diemen, Mygale, Piper, and Citation. This season Marcelli will be piloting a Van Diemen RF03 prepared by Brian Graham Racing. “I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel, this year in the ultra competitive F2000 Championship Series. The series has been a great proving ground for many great, successful drivers in the past and I hope to be the next. It seemed like this grueling winter took forever. It is going to be a tough but fun season ahead of us. I feel confident that I’m going into the season both mentally and physically prepared for what it takes. My goal is to come out at the end of the year having learned a lot and developed as a driver to be ready for the next step in the evolution of my career. Ultimately I want to win races and win the championship, which will be tough; I definitely have my work cut out. Being back with the Brian Graham Racing squad makes me feel right at home, it’s going to work well as we have a great working chemistry this way we can go into the first round at Virginia 100% ready”. - Kyle Marcelli  The F2000 Championship series isn’t the only place Kyle will be mastering his skills behind a wheel this season. Marcelli will also be driving a SAAB 93-Turbo for North America only factory supported Saab team in a few endurances races, along with the possibility of 1-2 races in the Indy Pro Series. “We’re very pleased to have Kyle back for a 2nd season, and look forward to going after another championship. Everyone on the team from the engineers, owners and rest of the crew are glad to have Kyle back for the 08 season. We are looking forward to helping Kyle grow & mature as a driver towards the next steps of  his career”. – Brian Graham (Brian Graham Racing) Brian Graham Racing and Marcelli are taking off April 13th for a day of testing prior to the season opener at Virginia International Raceway April 17th – 20th.  Kyle would like to send a very special thank you to all his sponsors Green Valley Electric, Trudel and Son Roofing, Lafarge, MG Homes, Barrie Trim and Moldings, GP Masonry, MMG Financial, The Robert Simpson Brewery, Brown Window Corp., Mullins Pub, Stif Creative Works, Simcoe Building Center and Alpinestars.
